Do you leave your camera without cleaning after using it outdoors?
You don’t know how to care for your camera – or cannot be bothered?
Particles or dust can settle on sensitive areas of the camera and may cause mould to grow with subsequent damage. Lenses should be cleaned and covered.
Especially, Particles and dust on CCD may appear in your photographs. That would be disastrous if the unwanted spots are in an area like on the eyes or face which cannot be easily touched up.
We’ll show you how to properly clean and store a digital single-lens reflex camera.
1.You need :
- a blower
- a brush
- cleaning cloth
2.Process to clean:
First, brush off particles and dust on the exterior. Then clean the inside of the finder cover, built-in strobo, around accessory shoe and the card slot which is susceptible to collecting particles and dust.
*Take a shot of a white background like a piece of paper with maximum aperture setting, and check if the image comes out clean.
Next, remove lens. Hold the camera downward in the air. Using a blower, remove all the dust on CCD. ( Do not use a brush blower nor powder blower )
Position the blower outside the lens mount and gently blow off dust on CCD.
Then, to clean the surface of the lens, use a clean microfiber cloth which is sold for cleaning glasses. Before using a cleaning cloth, blow off any dust on the surface.
If the camera is too dirty, send it to a service centre run by the manufacturer.
Always keep your camera in the best condition.
3. How to store you camera safely.
Do not store your camera in a bag. Store it in a dry box with a relative humidity level which will prevent fungus and mould from growing. You can also store your camera in a wardrobe box with desiccator.
The best policy is to clean your camera regularly and store it in a dust free dry box to minimise humidity.
