In response to the recent increase in damage caused by unauthorized use of credit cards by third parties, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has announced that it will be mandatory to introduce authentication (3D Secure 2.0) on e-commerce sites by the end of March 2025.

For our users to use our service more safely and securely, we will also, on March 17, 2025 (tentative),  introduce an authentication service (3D Secure 2.0) when users’ making credit card payments. Additionally, we will update our Privacy Policy accordingly.

About authentication (3D Secure 2.0)

EMV3-D Secure (3D Secure 2.0) is an authentication service that increases the security of transactions by allowing each credit card company to determine the risk of unauthorized use using the card user’s device information, etc., and requiring password entry etc. as necessary.

Users who are affected by the introduction and what such users are required to do

  • Users who have selected a credit card payment method for settlement in our services will be affected by the introduction of the authentication service (3D Secure 2.0).
  • If you wish to pay by credit card, you will need to register in advance for the authentication service (3D Secure 2.0) at each credit card company.
  • Your identity will be authenticated during credit card settlement procedures such as for “Single Purchase”, new or additional “Subscription” plans (excluding automatic renewals of the plans), for “Prepaid Credit”, or during procedures of updating card information, etc. However, you will not need to register in advance for automatic renewal of Subscription plans, and you can continue to use your current credit card.
  • If the credit card company determines that the risk of unauthorized use is low during authentication, the transaction will be completed without additional authentication. If the risk of unauthorized use is determined to be high, an authentication screen provided by the credit card company will be displayed. The authentication method differs depending on each credit card company, so please follow the instructions on the screen to authenticate your identity.
  • Settlement may not be completed if the authentication service (3D Secure 2.0) is not registered, or if authentication is not successful even if registered.
  • For information on how to register for the authentication service (3D Secure 2.0), authentication procedures, etc., please contact your credit card company directly.
  • The date of introduction of the authentication service (3D Secure 2.0) in PIXTA is subject to change.
