You take photos of your children when you take them to a park, don’t you?
But, don’t you take those photos just looking at their faces, though we see how cute our kids are?
If you pay attention only to their faces, it often happens that good facial expressions of the children get spoiled due to too many elements of the photos other than the kids, the main subjects, included there.
Then, in this article, we rounded up 3 tips for shooting children themed photos outdoors.
Please try these methods next time you take them out to a park.
1. Choose the best place and shoot at the eye level of children
We often see photos of children taken at the eye level of adults to end up capturing the ground as its background.
There would be few problems if the background is beautiful grass, but if it’s just the ground (soil), it would not be acceptable.
Therefore, in order to avoid this, always shoot at the same eye level as kids’ one.
It will work quite well to include the blue sky or trees far from the kids as the background being careful not to let fences around them, telegraph poles, or electrical wires in.

2. Shoot images of children playing naturally
While some children can smile naturally when we try to take pictures of them, most children can hardly strike poses naturally.
Therefore, we recommend shooting not just directing a camera to them, but using a telephoto lens to capture moments of them chatting with their friends or running around in a park.
A telephoto lens enables you to make only the background blur and to get only the kids in focus.

3. Shoot close-ups
As a common mistake, we can think of a photo where the face of a kid looks very small because the author tried to capture his or her whole figure in the photo.
Lets suppose that you were taking photos of your children playing on a slide.
If you included the slide as well as your kids in a photo, it would not be able to capture facial expressions (feelings) of the kids, since their faces would look smaller.
Even if the photo does not include the whole figure of the slide, viewers will be able to see that the kids are playing on a slide, so it will be smarter for you to shoot close-ups of the kids.
